Key inclusion & exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Participants meet the diagnosis cricteria of bipolar disorder according to DSM-IV between the ages of 18 and 45 years. In order to ensure symptomatic remission, bipolar patients had to have a score of 8 or less on both the Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) and the Young Mania Rating Scale (YMRS).
Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria were alcohol or substance dependence in the last two years; neurological disorders; cardiac pacemaker; and a history of brain trauma, seizures, or neurosurgery.
