Key inclusion & exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: All patients >18 years of age presenting with upper GI bleeding with hemoglobin level <10 g/dl
Exclusion criteria: Massive exsanguinating bleeding.

Lower GI bleed.

An acute coronary syndrome

Symptomatic peripheral vasculopathy.

Stroke, transient ischemic attack.

Transfusion within 90 days.

A recent history of trauma or surgery.

Health Condition 1: null- Upper Gastrointestinal bleeding
Intervention(s)
Intervention1: Restrictive transfusion: Transfusing the patient when the hemoglobin is less than 7g/dl till a level of 9g/dl is reached
Control Intervention1: Liberal transfusion: Transfusing the patient when hemoglobin is less than 8g/DL till a level of 10g/DL is reached
