Jamilu Tukur

Jamilu Tukur, MBBS, FWACS, FICS, is a consultant obstetrician/gynaecologist and Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital in Kano, Nigeria. He is also senior lecturer at the Bayero University, also in Kano. He received his Fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons in 2003. Since 2007, he has been the principal investigator of a project funded by the McArthur Foundation and the Population Council for the introduction of magnesium sulfate for the treatment of severe pre-eclampsia and eclampsia. He also participates in the training of health workers in Northern Nigeria on life saving skills. He is also a community advocate for the introduction of policies by the government and communities for the reduction of maternal mortality in Nigeria
