Silvina Ramos
Silvina Ramos is a sociologist with postgraduate degrees in social science research. She is Senior Researcher at the Health, Economy and Society Department at the Center of the State and Society (CEDES), Buenos Aires, Argentina. Currently, she is a member of the WHO´s Advisory Committee on Health Research and of the WHO Commission on Information & Accountability for Women & Children’s Health. She acts as co-Director of the Observatory on Sexual and Reproductive Health (OSSyR) of Argentina. She has developed research projects in the fields of medical sociology, health systems and policies, and public health with focus on sexual and reproductive health and rights. She has extensive teaching experience in the fields of qualitative methodologies, medical sociology and reproductive health. Her publications include academic articles, book chapters, policy briefs, and media articles. She has previously served as: Scientific Secretary of the Association of Psychosomatic Gynecology and Obstetrics and of the Association of Health Economy; Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program on Social Sciences and Health CEDES-FLACSO; and Director of CEDES, in Argentina. She has been an evaluator of the National Research Council and of the National Ministry of Science and Culture of Argentina.
