Nicola Low is Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health at the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine, University of Bern, Switzerland. She graduated in medicine in London, United Kingdom, in 1987 and is an accredited physician in Genitourinary Medicine and HIV and in Public Health. She gained a masters in Communicable Disease Control in London in 1996. Her interests are in the epidemiology and control of sexually transmitted infections and HIV. Areas of special interest are on the evaluation of screening programmes for the control of chlamydia and congenital syphilis and the role of vaginal practices and reproductive tract infections in the acquisition of HIV.
