Vithaya Kulsomboon is Associate Professor in the Department of Social Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. Dr Kulsomboon received his Bachelor of Sciences degree in Pharmacy from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand, in 1980 and his Masters degree in Primary Health Care Management in 1989 from the ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University and his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Pharmacy Practice and Administrative Sciences from the University of Maryland in Baltimore, MD, USA, in 2000. Dr. Kulsomboon has several publications in the area of health consumer protection, pharmaceutical policy, pharmacoepidemiology, and pharmacoeconomics. Since 2005, he has served as the Director of Health Consumer Protection Program - a cooperative programme between the Thai Health Foundation and Chulalongkorn University. In 2011, he was appointed by Pharmacy Council of Thailand as Director of the College of Pharmaceutical and Health Consumer Protection. He is the Co-editor of Value in Health 3rd Special Issue: Pharmacoeconomics & Outcomes Research in Asia Vol. 15 No 1, 2012 and is the Chair of the Scientific Committee of the 17th International Social Pharmacy Workshop (ISPW) with the theme “Social Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical & Health Consumer Protection” which will be held in Thailand, in July 2012.
