Shree Datta is a Senior Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, London, United Kingdom, acting at consultant level having completed her training recently. She has a degree Medical Law from the United Kingdom. Dr Datta has strong interest in international women’s health and in this regard she teaches obstetric life-saving skills in developing countries to reduce maternal mortality. Her clinical expertise is in the areas of operative gynaecology, ultrasound and colposcopy. She has co-authored two textbooks, obtained grants for Imperial College, London, England, and written numerous articles on women’s health. In addition to her clinical commitments, as a junior doctor she was elected to chair the British Medical Association’s Junior Doctors Committee. She went on to chair also the North European Junior Doctors Association and is currently Director of the British Medical Association. Her aim in the next five years is to develop her research skills and teaching interests in maternal health and gynaecology as a consultant at the international level. She also has interest in cervical cancer screening.
