Akjemal Magtymova

Akjemal Magtymova is a Medical Officer in Reproductive Health and Research, Department for Family and Community Health, WHO Regional Office for South-East Asia, New Delhi, India. She is a medical doctor with specialization in Obstetrics/Gynecology from the State Turkmen Medical University and an MSc in Health System Management from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She has had direct involvement in clinical and epidemiological research in reproductive health, including anemia in pregnancy, reproductive tract infections, and feto-placental deficiencies were among her early professional pursuits. During past ten years, she mainly focused on planning, implementation and evaluation of development assistance programmes designed for improvement of women’s and children’s health, reproductive health and population policies in countries of the Central and South-East Asia and the Western Pacific.
