Seminar of WHO Prequalification of Medicines Programme with European Manufacturers and EU Holders of
       Marketing Authorizations

       Copenhagen, Denmark - 26 November 2009

The seminar for European manufacturers and EU holders of marketing authorisations of generic medicines was held in the premises of WHO EURO office in Copenhagen on 26 November 2009.  The seminar focused mainly on how the generic manufacturers in the EU Member States could more actively be involved in international donor funded procurement.  Information was provided about the Prequalification Programme and abridged procedures for holders of marketing authorizations granted in the EU or by other stringent regulatory authorities worldwide.

The participants were informed about mechanisms of international tenders and criteria applied by UN agencies and major international sponsors for international procurement.  The seminar provided an opportunity to discuss with WHO experts and  officials from international organizations on procedural and technical issues relevant for suppliers of medicines for the  public health treatment programmes in resource limited settings.
