Prequalification: Workshop
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - 11-13 October 2010 The workshop, introducing principles, procedures and requirements of the WHO Prequalification of Medicines Programme (PQP), was organized, by PQP in cooperation with the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office and supported by the Ministry of Health of the United Arab Emirates, for manufacturers and regulators from the Gulf and Eastern Mediterranean countries. 42 manufacturers and regulators who attended the workshop were provided with information about the objectives and mechanisms of WHO PQP. The principal technical requirements were discussed, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and documentation of quality and bioequivalence for the purpose of prequalification. The participants were informed about quality assurance mechanisms applied by international donors and procuring agencies and also about market opportunities for medicines invited by WHO PQP for prequalification.
