PQ Stakeholders and Manufacturers Meeting

       Geneva, Switzerland - 4-5 April 2011

The WHO Prequalification of Medicines Programme (PQP), in conjunction with the Prequalification of Vaccines Programme and the Prequalification of Diagnostics Programme, held the 6th Consultative Meeting with Stakeholders in Geneva, on 4 April 2011.  This was followed by a Meeting with Manufacturers on 5 April 2011, also in Geneva, organized by the WHO Prequalification of Medicines and Vaccines Programmes.  This was the second such meeting for the Prequalification of Medicines Programme: the first was held in Copenhagen in July 2010.

During the morning session of 4 April, updates were given for each prequalification programme, while in the afternoon session three parallel workshops were organized to consider the strategically important topic of where each programme should be five years from now.  Two questions were presented to each workshop for discussion:

  • Who are the customers and what do they value?

  • Does the programme need to do anything differently and if so, what?

During the morning of 5 April, the Prequalification of Medicines Programme held parallel technical workshops on dossier assessment and good manufacturing practice.  During the afternoon of 5 April, representatives of individual manufacturers were able to meet with the medicines prequalification assessors and inspectors, to discuss specific issues.

The Prequalification of Vaccines Programme adopted a similar meeting with manufacturers.  The morning of 5 April was dedicated to a technical workshop, while in the afternoon, representatives of individual manufacturers were able to meet with vaccines prequalification staff.
