  • Asia-Pacific Leadership and Policy Dialogue for Women’s and Children’s Health
    NOVEMBER | MANILA -Ministers and senior officials from nearly 20 countries in the Asia-Pacific region gathered to discuss mutual strategies and principles in accelerating progress for women's and children's health in the region. Hosted by the WHO's Western Pacific Regional Office (WPRO) and convened by AusAID, the Asian Development Bank, WHO, UNICEF, and PMNCH, the meeting was the first-ever event to bring together more than 150 participants from government, civil society, the UN and the private sector to share knowledge and experiences related to regional strategies for investment, policy implementation, and accountability.

  • PMNCH board meets in Abuja
    The 13th meeting of the PMNCH board opened on 18 October in Abuja, with introductory remarks by Nigerian Senate President David Mark and federal Minister of Health C.O. Onyebuchi Chukwu followed by a keynote address on Nigeria’s profile in maternal, newborn and child health by Prof. Emmanuel Otolorin, country director of JHPIEGO.
  • Collective action: Role of ICT in support of “Saving One Million Lives Program”

    SEPTEMBER 2012 - Financial commitments of nearly $58 billion to The Global Strategy for Women’s and Children's Health includes about $20 billion in new money, according to a new report from The Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (PMNCH).

    20 JULY 2012 | GENEVA - Following on recent discussions at the 12th PMNCH Board (3-4 May 2012) on Financing for RMNCH, the Board asked PMNCH to explore options for RMNCH financing that would improve the coordination and effectiveness of existing funding efforts and mechanisms.

    3 JULY 2012 | LONDON - As part of the London Summit on Family Planning on 11 July 2012, The Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (PMNCH) in collaboration with the Innovation Working Group (IWG) and the United Nations Foundation have organized a parallel session to launch a new guide for businesses that identifies investment opportunities for improved women’s and children’s health.

    13 JUNE 2012 | ABUJA, NIGERIA - Health Minister, Prof.C.O.Onyebuchi Chukwu has inaugurated a 13-man Local Organising Committee for the hosting of the 13th Board meeting of the Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Partnership (PMNCH) in Nigeria.

  • Africa Regional RMNCH Advocacy Strategy Implementation Meeting
    26 MARCH 2012 | KAMPALA, UGANDA - Over 140 partners gathered in Kampala to identify next steps in the implementation of the Integrated Strategy for Reproductive Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (RMNCH), led by the African Union. This strategy, devised during a consultation in August 2011, promotes alignment of the implementation of several African and global frameworks for women’s and children’s health, including the Campaign for the Accelerated Reduction of Maternal, Mortality in Africa, The Maputo Plan of Action and the Global Strategy for Women’s and Children’s Health.

  • Health partnerships reach out to G8 leaders
    MARCH 2012 - The Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health has joined with three other leading global health partnerships to send an open letter to G8 leaders to ask for the inclusion of a specific statement of commitment and support for global health in this year's G8 Summit Declaration and accountability report.
