The Tenth International Conference of Drug Regulatory Authorities (ICDRA), co-sponsored by WHO, and convened in Hong Kong, China, is an important meeting aimed at further strengthening communication and coordination among all drug regulatory authorities. Over the years, ICDRA has become a forum where senior drug regulators can discuss issues, exchange ideas and set directions for future development. China is honoured to be co-sponsor of this Tenth Conference and I extend a very warm welcome to colleagues from drug agencies all over the world and to all participants.
During this Conference we will discuss the current status of drug regulations, the problems and challenges we are facing, explore ways of improving coordination, cooperation, and communication, and of further strengthening drug management, through effective and accountable regulation, that ensures the safety, efficacy and quality of medicines, and leads to improved accessibility and rational use of drugs.
