Sweden. The Medical Product Agency has prohibited sales of Psorial ointment in Sweden with immediate effect after discovery of undeclared content of halcinonide and triamcinolone acetonide in the product. The concentration of these cortisone derivatives corresponds to prescription topical steroid preparations. The analysis was performed by Danish authorities and the findings have been confirmed by the Medical Products Agency.
Psorial is marketed by mail order in Sweden and Denmark for the treatment of psoriasis and eczema and is purported to contain ADead Sea extracts@. It is classified as a medicinal product in Sweden on account of the claims made and the content of cortisone derivatives. Psorial has never been approved in Sweden.
