3. HEALTH CARE REFORMS IN LATIN AMERICA

To facilitate the understanding of Health System Reforms in Latin America and the Caribbean, I shall first elucidate some aspects regarding financing, expenditure and coverage. Then, I shall attempt to sum up the principles of structural adjustment policies and their effects on the sector reforms since the mid 80s. Finally, I shall refer to some proposals which seem to came up in the mid 90s.
