Abstract

The purpose of this publication is to facilitate the efficient procurement of laboratory equipment and commodities required to perform HIV diagnostic tests, including HIV testing, CD4 count, viral load and early infant diagnosis. This publication provides the list and quantities of consumables and equipment needed to produce a test result for each of the different technologies included in the document, so that procurement managers can order all that is needed to ensure the full performance of their laboratory services. These procurement lists will be updated as technology develops. This tool will greatly facilitate the planning and budgeting of laboratory procurement in national strategic planning and fundraising. It is targeted towards all laboratory supply chain personnel, logisticians and senior staff responsible for procurement and management of HIV related laboratory commodities at all levels.
