These guidelines provide recommendations for how to provide services at the community level. They instruct PHC unit staff on the fundamentals of PHC, including nutrition. They are comprehensive and contain advice on supplements, such as vitamin A, iron, and folate. Antenatal care advice includes, for example, discouraging girls from getting pregnant before 18 years of age and increasing birth spacing. Anaemia is included, but no diagnostics are provided. The chapter on nutrition mainly refers to breastfeeding and complementary feeding.
