Abstract

Myanmar Essential Medicines Project, since the inception (adoption) of Essential Medicines and Vaccines Programme (EMVP) has developed and established a National List of Essential Medicines comprising 254 items of medicines in 1979. The sixth review and revision of the National List of Essential Medicines was done in 2009 with 354 items (243 Essential + 98 Complementary) of medicines.

The essential Medicines List can be used as the basis for procurement and distribution of medicines and for developing National and Hospital Medicines Formularies.
