The Zimbabwe Essential Drugs Action Programme has developed an innovative approach to training within the overall programme. The programme depends on the active participation of rural health staff in the production of training materials, combined with desktop publishing technology. The modules thus produced have been used at provincial and district workshops. Such an approach to the production of training materials is applicable to subjects other than essential drugs.
