Abstract
At present, HTA is viewed as the “comprehensive way to investigate the technical, economic, and social consequences of HT utilization, in the short and the long term, as well as its direct and indirect impact, both desirable and undesirable”. Assessing a health technology makes it possible “to present information on the patient’s alternatives to clinicians, patients, and others”, and frequently provides data to orient strategic decision-making related to health insurance coverage or resource allocation, including the purchasing of equipment.
