2.1. WHO strategic directions

WHO's work covers numerous health-related technical areas, but its overall objective is the attainment by all peoples of the highest level of health. In order to help WHO staff - wherever they work - to meet this objective, the Organization recently set out four strategic directions. These are helping to ensure clear priorities and a shared agenda (Figure 2). 19 Implementation of the Medicines Strategy will contribute to all four WHO strategic directions.
