This chapter deals with general items applicable to any type of article in an independent drug bulletin. Chapter 8 focuses in more detail on a particular type of article that bulletins frequently produce: the appraisal of a newly marketed drug. As was pointed out in Chapter 6, a detailed outline of the steps involved in producing a bulletin article will help you to realistically plan its timing. This planning can either be geared to specific bulletin issues or to creating a stock of available articles to provide flexibility in the planning of each issue. Similarly, the work of an editor of a bulletin may be more or less separate from the work of an author. Some bulletins’ editorial teams also write most articles. Other bulletins maintain a separation between the tasks of authors and editors.
