Spain. The Pharmacovigilance Centre of the Institut Catala de Farmacologia has received three more reports of agranulocytosis associated with the combination hypnotic sedative, pyrithyldione/diphenhydramine (So”odorR), since it drew attention to this reaction in July 1996. The Centre reiterates its strong recommendation to withdraw this product from the market, especially in view of the lack of information on pyrithildione and the fact that, although So”odorR is a prescription medicine, it is often dispensed without prescription.
