The Directorate General of Pharmaceutical Affairs & Drug Control has prohibited the registration, import and sale of pyrethroids such as bioallethrin, permethrin, phenothrin, tetramethrin and carbaril in all parasiticidal preparations because of a potential risk of carcinogenicity.
