Sultanate of Oman. The Directorate General of Pharmaceutical Affairs & Drug Control (DGPA&DC) in the Sultanate of Oman has made a decision to prohibit the import and marketing of any herbal product or traditional medicines containing aristolochic acid. The decision was made in light of information received by the directorate that aristolochic acid consumption has been associated with severe kidney toxicity and also the development of cancer of the urinary tract.
