|Abstract:||An experimental coding system for common associations of symptoms and diagnoses considered recognizable by lay primary health care workers. The objective is to facilitate the gathering and reporting of health data in countries having few resources available for such tasks. The book contains some 240 diagnoses under 22 categories. Appended to the main list are short lists of the major fatal and non-fatal conditions, a sample form for recording deaths, and a suggested patient registry suitable for use by lay health workers. The book is of particular relevance in countries where a patients first contact with the health service is through lay or paramedical personnel|
