|Abstract:||WHO published revised estimates of blindness and visual impairment in 2010, and 2010 also marked 10 years of 'Vision 2020'. This publication provides an update on the current eye-care and rehabilitation services in Member States of the WHO South-East Asia Region. The focus has been on the prevalence and causes of visual impairment and blindness; the eye-care infrastructure and human resources; the implementation of WHO strategies for control of 'Vision 2020' priority eye diseases; the status of the 'Vision 2020' national plan implementation; and the strengths and weaknesses of the current prevention of blindness approaches. Appropriate suggestions and recommendations have been provided to strengthen measures for improving eye health.|
