|Abstract:||Description: The world is experiencing a rapid demographic transformation and by the middle of the twenty-first century, the proportion of people above the age of 60 years may well be significantly high. This increase will be greatest and most rapid in developing countries where the demographic transformation will bring about a number of health, social and economic challenges. The Regional Consultation on a Strategic Framework for Active Healthy Ageing in the South-East Asia Region brought participants and experts from Member States to review the status of active healthy ageing in their countries with the purpose of identifying success stories and sharing experiences. The consultation also introduced a strategic framework for active healthy ageing, the goal of which is to protect and promote the health of the Region's population as a priority by pursuing it with a holistic, integrative and inclusive approach.|
