Abstract: A Regional Meeting on Public Health Research Agenda for Influenza was organized in SEARO, New Delhi from 18-20 August 2010 as a follow-up to the Global Consultation held in Geneva from 17-20 November 2009. The objectives of the meeting were to share experiences and lessons, identify research priorities and define mechanisms for implementation of the research agenda. The overall goal was to promote research and generate evidence needed to strengthen public health guidance and bolster actions essential for limiting the impact of pandemic, zoonotic and seasonal influenza on individuals and populations. The report outlines experiences and lessons learnt from seasonal, highly pathogenic avian (H5N1) and pandemic (H1N1) 2009 influenza, and lists the research priorities and recommendations for strengthening the public health research agenda for influenza.
