Abstract: Antiviral drugs played an important role in the recent pandemic of influenza. These were used extensively in all affected areas thus creating an environment for the selection of resistant strains. Detection of resistance in influenza viruses requires sophisticated laboratory infrastructure and expertise that are currently available in selected institutes in South-East Asia Region. This document provides an overview of the facilities available in this Region. Various techniques that determine resistance have also been summarized.
