|Abstract:||The IHR (2005) entered into force on 15 June 2007. Member States have until June 2012 to have in place capacities for detecting and responding to public health events of national and international concern. A review of the progress with implementation in the South-East Asia Region showed that much work has been done to build capacity in the area of surveillance and response to infectious disease. IHR (2005) is now broader in scope to include all public health events. The Third Regional Meeting of National IHR Focal Points was organized to provide updates, share experiences and lessons learned, and to highlight to Member States the need to consider the 'all hazards' approach in planning and preparedness for Public Health threats.|
