A hands-on guide to management of the herbalnet digital repository
AbstractDescription: In many countries, especially in the developing world, valuable information materials are scattered all over institutions, never to be identified and managed, mostly forgotten and several of them are already lost over time. This is especially true with information on herbal and traditional medicine; most of which can even date back to several thousand years. WHO's objective is to identify, process, preserve, archive and disseminate materials on herbal and traditional medicine from WHO and its partner institutions in the South-East Asia Region by establishing digital repositories in several subject areas. The HerbalNet Digital Repository is part of this initiative. This document is a hands-on guide for creating communities, collections and performing data entry to HerbalNet Digital Repository using DSpace. Being a hands-on guide, it intends to enhance, not to replace, existing DSpace manuals and documentations. The document is intended to be used as an aid at repository training workshops conducted by the World Health Organization, Regional Office for South-East Asia.
