Epidemiology of road traffic accidents in Al-Ahssaa Governorate, Saudi Arabia
AbstractA study of road traffic accidents was conducted in Al-Ahssaa Governorate, Saudi Arabia, 1414 AH [July 1994 to June 1995]. The objective was to determine the magnitude of the problem and to study its determinants and consequences. Relevant records of both the traffic agency and the four main hospitals in the Governorate were reviewed in a retrospective study. A total of 6117 accidents occurred, which resulted in the injury of 2551 people and the deaths of 151, according to the medical records. The data are compared with those from other regions and recommendations given to help minimize the problem of road traffic accidents
