Evaluation of environmental health services in the European region : report on a WHO working group, Istanbul, Turkey, 27-29 June 1996
AbstractAs part of a WHO project to strengthen environmental health services, the WHO Regional Office for Europe convened a working group, comprising WHO staff and experts from six European countries and the United States, in Istanbul in June 1996. The main issue was the development of evaluation methodology for environmental health services; the group's task was to review draft guidelines for such evaluations in the WHO European Region. The group discussed the practical use of the draft document, the case studies included in it, its attention to economic and qualitative evaluation tools and the need for more guidance on the organization of an evaluation. It recommended that the draft document be reviewed for its usefulness in practice, and urged specific changes to different parts of the text. Making these improvements to the document would help to ensure that the guidelines were ready for approval by Member States in October 1996
