| dc.description.abstract | The 2nd annual meeting of HEPA Europe, the European network for the promotion of health-enhancing activity, was kindly hosted by the Urho Kekonnen (UKK) Institute for Health Promotion Research in Tampere, Finland, and co-sponsored by the Finnish Ministry of Health and Social Affairs. It was attended by 39 participants from 16 countries. On the one hand, the meeting was convened to review and discuss recent, relevant international developments and experiences and national approaches with regard to physical activity promotion as well as aspects of monitoring and epidemiology. In this regard, 4 key note speeches, 15 poster presentations on national activities and approaches and 7 plenary presentations on international activities and projects were delivered. On the other hand, progress made in the first year of the existence of HEPA Europe was discussed, in particular in implementing the work programme 2005 / 2006 as well with regard to contributions and funding. In addition, 35 applications of institutions for membership were evaluated and confirmed, together with two invitations to individual members. Finally, decisions were made on activities to be continued and future projects to be undertaken by HEPA Europe. The participants discussed and adopted the following documents: the activity report 2005 / 2006, the work programme 2006 / 2007, the financing concept 2005 - 2007, and updated Terms of Reference of HEPA Europe.
