|Abstract:||In collaboration with the Swedish Medical Association, the WHO Regional Office for Europe organized a Consensus Meeting on Patient Outcome Measures in Mental Health. The participants were asked to review the results of studies of selected health outcome indicators and to make recommendations regarding their further application and dissemination. The participants formed three working groups to propose indicators for three types of mental health care : long-term care, acute care and community care. Finally, the participants recommended that the instruments for measuring outcome continue to be applied in a range of studies in several European countries, although many of them required further investigation and refinement, including translation procedures. They also recommended that any study include a generic as well as a disease-specific instrument and noted the many advantages of setting up a common database of studies|
