Abstract: As the lead UN agency in international health development, WHO has been collaborating with its Member States in the South-East Asia Region to strengthen national capacity in several areas of priority interest. Accounting for nearly one fourth of the global population the Region also carries a heavy burden of communicable and noncommunicable diseases. These factors are further compounded by inadequate resources and pose a unique challenge, which are being addressed by policy makers in the Region.&#xD;
&#xD;
 &#xD;
&#xD;
 This biennial report on the Work of WHO in the South-East Asia Region for the period 1 January 2008 – 31 December 2009, covers the major areas of WHO collaboration, highlighting the achievements, challenges and the way forward. This report will be found most useful for all those interested in health development in the Region.</summary>
