The Global Preparedness Monitoring Board (GPMB) is an independent monitoring and accountability body created to advance the common objective of ensuring preparedness for global health crises.

Our Work

The mandate of the GPMB is to apprise key policymakers and the world of system-wide progress towards increased preparedness and response capacity for disease outbreaks and other emergencies with health consequences. It publishes an annual overview of the state of the world’s preparedness, monitoring progress, and making specific high level recommendations in its flagship Report on the Status of Global Preparedness for Health Crises.

The Board

Dr Gro Harlem Brundtland
The Board will monitor preparedness activities on a global scale, and will hold all actors, from private and public sectors, accountable for building essential public health capacities, generating sustainable financing and ensuring that necessary research and development is conducted.
Dr Gro Harlem Brundtland

Mr Elhadj As Sy
Pandemic preparedness must be as much local as global, and we must meaningfully engage local communities in preparedness, detection, response and recovery to disease outbreaks. We all need to be accountable to each other on the promises we make, and the results we achieve.
