Evaluation year: 1989

Comments:
The Committee previously concluded that DEHP is a peroxisome-proliferator and carcinogen in the livers of both rats and mice and induces age-dependent testicular atrophy in rats. The use of food-contact materials from which bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate may migrate is provisionally accepted on condition that the amount of the substance migrating into food is reduced to the lowest level technologically attainable.
