126th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union
31 March - 5 April 2012
The IPU Assembly (formerly known as the Inter-Parliamentary Conference) is the principal statutory body that expresses the views of the Inter-Parliamentary Union on political issues. It brings together parliamentarians to study international problems and make recommendations for action. This year, for the first time, the IPU, which is a member of PMNCH, is considering women’s and children’s health in its Plenary Session, as well as debating a Resolution to the IPU Third Standing Committee on Democracy and Human Rights: "Access to health as a basic right: The role of Parliaments in addressing key challenges to securing the health of women and children."
PMNCH member White Ribbon Alliance is reporting on the exciting developments unfolding for women's and children's health at this important gathering, direct from their "Citizens' News" studio in Kampala.
