 <p>This special symposium\, to be held during the <a title="Link to SOGC ACM calendar entry" href="http://apps.who.int/calendar/?q=node/546" target="_self">Annual Clinical Meeting</a> of the&nbsp\;Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada's (SOGC)\,&nbsp\;will comprise of a full day of sessions dedicated to&nbsp\;the global fight for safe motherhood and sexual and reproductive health. International experts&nbsp\;from SOGC partner countries&nbsp\;will present and discuss the most effective\, low-cost\, and evidence-based interventions available to reduce the global death toll of women in the developing world. Session topics will focus on the main causes of mortality related to reproductive health for women in low-resource settings\, including hypertensive disorders of pregnancy\, post-partum hemorrhage\, cervical cancer\, and complications due to unsafe abortion.&nbsp\;SOGC members\, partners\, as well as the general public\, are all welcome to attend. Refreshments and lunch will be provided.&nbsp\;There will also be a reception following the symposium from 5pm to 7pm. RSVPs for this Symposium and Reception are required and space is limited.  <p>In 2012\, Women Deliver\, in partnership with regional organizations\, will hold invitation-only regional consultations for 100-150 participants each in sub-Saharan Africa\; Latin America and the Caribbean\; Asia\; and the Middle East and North Africa. Policymakers\, researchers\, experts\, and advocates will discuss regional success stories\, lessons learned and pathways for future progress in maternal and reproductive health\, with a focus on the International Conference on Population and Development’s (ICPD) Plan of Action and Millennium Development Goal (MDG) 5.</p>

The meeting includes 4 full days of continuing educational programming on pregnancy\, birth\, reproductive health\, and the primary health care needs of women across the lifespan.</span></p>
