2012 mHealth Summit: Call for Presentations
Submission Deadline: 29 June 2012\, 12pm EST
The mHealth Summit is an international forum connecting the mobile health ecosystem for mHealth research\, education\, thought leadership\, exhibits and action-provoking panel discussions. \;The 2012 event will feature the summit's first ever Global Health track\, which will showcase applications of mHealth topics in the global health field. \;This cross-cutting track will highlight mHealth efforts to improve health outcomes in low- and middle-income countries including progress and challenges projects have encountered.

The United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD) is being organized in pursuance of General Assembly Resolution 64/236 \;(A/RES/64/236). \;The conference\, also known as RIO+20\, will mark the 20th anniversary of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED)\, in Rio de Janeiro\, and the 10th anniversary of the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) in Johannesburg. It is envisaged as a conference at the highest possible level\, including Heads of State and Government or other representatives. The conference will result in a focused political document.

Each year the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC) hosts an Annual Clinical Meeting where doctors\, nurses and midwives from all over Canada gather to learn about issues affecting the practice of obstetrics and gynaecology and to become updated on the latest research related to women's health. International experts \;from SOGC partner countries \;will present and discuss the most effective\, low-cost\, and evidence-based interventions available to reduce the global death toll of women in the developing world. Session topics will focus on the main causes of mortality related to reproductive health for women in low-resource settings\, including hypertensive disorders of pregnancy\, post-partum hemorrhage\, cervical cancer\, and complications due to unsafe abortion. \;SOGC members\, partners\, as well as the general public\, are all welcome to attend. This summit will serve as a global Call to Action to end preventable child deaths. The East African Community is set to launch before the end of this year a project to boost maternal and child health in the region. \;The project\, named the Open Health Initiative\, is envisaged to promote innovative interventions and enhance access to data and information for better results\, better tracking of resources and stronger oversight of results and resources for women's and children's health nationally and regionally\, all geared towards achievement of Millennium Development Goals 4 and 5. \;The EAC Secretary General Amb. Dr. Richard Sezibera while opening a first preparatory meeting on 6 June 2012 that brought together delegates from the Partner States and various international and regional collaborating partners said the target was for the Open Health Initiative to be officially launched by the 14th Ordinary Summit of the EAC Heads of State due November 2012. \;This meeting was preceded by a two-day meeting of EAC Partner States’ National Health and Finance experts held at the same venue from 4th to 5th June 2012.

2012 Annual Meeting of the UNICEF Executive Board

The Executive Board is the governing body of UNICEF\, providing intergovernmental support and oversight to the organization\, in accordance with the overall policy guidance of the United Nations General Assembly and the Economic and Social Council. \;The Executive Board reviews UNICEF activities and approves its policies\, country programmes and budgets. It comprises 36 members\, representing the five regional groups of Member States at the United Nations. Its work is coordinated by the Bureau\, comprising the President and four Vice-Presidents\, each officer representing one of the five regional groups.
The Executive Board meets three times each calendar year\, in a first regular session (January/February)\, annual session (May/June) and second regular session (September).
