| Summary |
|
This volume considers a number of different aspects of the carcinogenicity of cytostatic drugs. Three introductory papers describe the problem, with particular emphasis on its clinical implications. There follows a series of chapters which describe the biochemical reactions between specific agents and DNA and proteins. Biological effects of cytostatic drugs, other than human carcinogenesis, are considered in the next section. Separate chapters discuss organ toxicity, chromosomal damage and carcinogenicity in experimental animals. Epidemiological studies of second cancers following cytostatic therapy are the subject of the fourth section of the volume which concludes with a group of papers on new strategies for reducing the carcinogenicity of cytostatic drugs. |
